Fitting out your garden room on a budget

Aug 31, 2020 | Uncategorised | 0 comments

Once your garden room is built, then it’s time to decorate the inside! How exciting that can be, until you take a look at your budget. It may seem impossible that you can decorate your new garden room without much money.

Don’t despair! We’ve done some research and have come up with some creative ideas to help you decorate your garden room even on a budget!

1). Buy Secondhand

When your budget doesn’t allow for buying new, then buying used is the way to go. Buying used items was once looked down upon; however, those days are long gone! The reason is that many people are on a budget these days. Not only that but buying used items is now seen as a way to help the planet. Buying preowned items allows you to keep those things out of landfills, while you save money at the same time.

In addition, new items can be quite expensive, and not have the lasting usefulness of older, better made items. This includes furniture such as tables and chairs, decorative items and more than can easily be redone to fit in a garden room.

If you don’t enjoy the idea of visiting a secondhand shop, considering buying used items online at eBay, going to garage sales, or look for meetups where people gather to sell unwanted items.

Buying secondhand saves you money while saving the planet. And you might just find some precious, interesting objects to furnish and decorate your new garden room!

2). Upcycle

Upcycling is also a popular option when you don’t have much cash to decorate a new garden office. In fact, upcycling can be fun! When it comes to upcycling, you may find a secondhand table you bought, or one that you already have, could use a coat of paint. Consider the style and color you’d like to achieve and if you don’t have experience, find videos online that offer tips and how-tos.

You might also consider using objects in a way that’s different from their intended use. For instance, you could use jars as inexpensive lighting in the new garden room. You can save all types of jars and pretty bottles, and even ask friends and family to save these for you.

Once you have enough jars for your lighting project, consider using LED lights placed inside the jars to add a touch of ambience to the space. You can find LED lights that come as small bulbs or even strings of lights that include a small remote control. The remote gives you the chance to change the color of the lights, control dimness, and more. What fun this could be!

Just use your imagination to come up with a decorating idea, and then find the way to follow through your decorating design. Don’t be afraid to even use items in a different way, as this will add interest to your new garden room! And remember that paint and other items needed to upcycle are much cheaper than buying new items. You’ll have so much fun as you upcycle, too!

3). Visit a Junkyard

You may think that a junkyard would be the last place to find items to decorate your garden room. However, you may be surprised at just what may be available for your use. It’s also a great way to save money for decorating your garden room.

Repurposing junk has become extremely popular these days. In fact, all you need to do is take a quick trip over to Pinterest to find some exciting, brilliant decorating with old junk ideas! You can also find how-to’s on YouTube and blog posts to help you get some ideas, along with instructions to convert junk into beautiful decorations.

One of the best things about this idea is that you’ll have completely unique items in your garden room. No one will be able to go out and exactly copy your ideas, because these items were your own creation from individual pieces of junk. Those pieces may not be common, either.

Here, again, it’s often helpful to check out Pinterest and other sites that offer ideas and advice on how to and what to use from junkyard finds. Of course, you can also use your own imagination, but if you’re just getting started with this type of project, having some ideas in advance can be a huge help.

When you get to the junkyard, just keep an open mind and think outside the box. You may be surprised at what you’ll find and be able to use from the junkyard!

Your family and friends will be delighted with your creativity and all the hard work it took to bring that junk to perfection. You’ll also be able to create your own distinctive decorating style, all on a budget!

4). Visit Furniture Swaps

Here’s another fun idea! Do you have some older furniture you don’t need? Would you like to make more space in your home? Then why not consider visiting a furniture swap?

Furniture swaps are becoming more popular these days. These swap meetings usually don’t cost anything. You just take your old furniture and then use it to swap for “new” things from others who are attending. Many people see furniture swaps as another great way to avoid adding more stuff to landfills and saving money as they save the planet all at the same time. So, you can save money and keep things out of the landfill. What could be better?

The only thing better is to find a furniture swap and then attend. You can find furniture swaps online, or you may find them in local communities near your home. When you go, just look for things that would go along with your design ideas, and then focus on looking for those items. Then see if you can arrange a swap. That’s all there is to it!

These are some easy, money-saving ways you can attractively decorate your new garden room with some beautiful, unique furnishings. All while staying on budget!
