Garden Studio Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need planning permission for my new garden studio?
In most cases, no. Planning permission regulations were relaxed in 2008 and then updated in 2016 meaning that adhering to a small number of rules allows you to avoid the planning application requirements. Simply your garden studio square meterage needs to be below 30m2 and the height needs to be below 2.5m at the eaves.
Will my garden studio need to meet any building regulations?
Although all of our garden studios do comply with building regulations, in most cases they are exempt. If your potential garden room is over 30m2 then we will be required to inform your local building inspector. We do all of this for you so don’t worry about any hassle.
From start to finish, how long does it take to build a garden studio?
Although each of our customer’s needs are specific to them (e.g. positioning, preferences and optional extras), the time between placing an order and getting started on the build of your new garden room is around 3 weeks. The build time is dependent on the size of your garden studio and the complexity of the project.
What warranties are provided with our garden studios?
Every one of our garden buildings are provided with a 10 year structural warranty, and an additional 20 year roof warranty. We build our garden studio strong enough to last a life time.
How well insulated are garden studios?
We construct all of our garden builds using highly thermally efficient SIP’s (Structurally Insulated Panels). This means that they are between 30-40% better insulated than most homes and therefore suitable for use all year round.
